Coifs were made to cover the head (face excluded), neck and shoulders. The use of mail was prominent throughout the High Middle Ages - it reached its apex in the 13th century , when full body suits of mail armour were developed.

This coif is forge blackened and has had every link riveted so it is extremely durable. Each link has a round cross-section and round rivet.

Good quality. This is a very well made product, fits nicely over my head with a arming cap or padded coilf other wise it pulls your hair out, the opening for the face is a little small but just take out a line of rivets around the face and chin and it's good to go, over all a great product.

Great Fit, Great Construction Brilliant purchase - solid construction, fits my melon head perfectly. A great combo with the padded coif and heavy duty great helm for total head protection.
